During this pandemic situation, most of the people are doing work from home. Are they all productive while doing work from home? Productive in the sense, Qualitative not regarding Quantitative.

I have done a survey among my friends regarding that, most of them come up with a single problem during work from home. I also faced the same during the initial stage. Eager to know, what is the problem most people suffer from? Would you like to have a cross-check with yours?

Okay, so here is the problem stated at first :

Problem Statement :

“ I need to work more than 8 hours/day during work from home, when compared to usual office days”

What do you think? Is it the same problem you are suffering? If yes, does this problem stated properly!!

I started to find a solution for this in my case, but nothing is not much effective. I tried many things to overcome the same. I State the problem in the wrong way. Then how can I find the solution?

In a shiny morning, I just read this blog https://www.levyinnovation.com/a-problem-well-stated-is-half-solved/

Then, I restate the problem as below :

“ I am not able to complete my work within 8hours/day during my work from home, when compared to usual office days”

I think now the problem is well stated. Right? Now, Let’s make the problem statement into a Question? Why do we need to do that?

We can only find a proper solution for any problem if we find an answer for WHY?

Now I stated the problem as below :

“Why I am not able to complete my work within 8hours/day during my work from home, when compared to usual office days? “

Some answers for why includes, Cocktail party effect as when we hear our name during working, we will go behind that. Also, real-life Vortex (The vortex is a user-behavior pattern that begins with a single intentional interaction followed by a series of unplanned interactions ) & so on.

Like this may you need to answer for iterative “WHYs”?

But at last, there will be a stage where you need to answer “ what so “. If you are able to answer this one, your problem will get solved in the proper way.

So let’s conclude, to get the right solution for the right problem, you needed to state the problem in the right way.
